Aethetiker Wangl Tangl
Austria March 2010

When it comes to core events, the Wangl Tängl is way out there in a league of its own, with some of the worlds best riders making the journey here every year, no matter what their schedule says.  Henry Jackson has been MCing this event for 3 years now, and has rapidly made it his own.

Event Report

During the ‘Gäng Jam’ snowboard contest in the modified Vans Penken Park the teams were delivering a show like Tirol has never seen before! The ‘young guns’ proved to the ‘old dogs’ that freestyle snowboarding in Europe has a bright future. Especially the show in the new ‘Red Bull Endsection’ proved that difficult technical maneuvers work well in a snowboard team contest. The ‘Absolut’ team convinced everyone as their team performance looked like a practiced freestyle sports exercise.

In the ‘Gäng Jam’ snowboard contest it is about performing runs together. The team ‚Absolut’ with Herby Thaler, Michi Stanschitz und Philip Gruber showed everyone what it is all about. Tricks like ‘cab 900’, ‘fs 1080’ or ‘double backflips’ were on the schedule. The team captain Herby Thaler had the best runs and therefore received the ‚most impressive rider’ award. The team ‚black and white’ with Reini Rieser, Mario Wanger und Tom Klocker earned the second place with their brilliant performance. Tom Klocker got on top of it the ‘best young gun’ award. The ‘Ästhetiker 1’ team with Steve Gruber, Werni Stock and Georg Huber were on third place thanks to the routine of ‚old dog’ Steve. The team ‘Ästhetiker 2’ with Chris Kroell, Rudi Kroell and Alex Walch were on fourth place as the synchronized runs of Rudi and Chris impressed everyone. Tonton Holland from Switzerland was especially creative in the ‘Red Bull Endsection’ and truly deserved the ‘best endsection award’.

The ‚Gäme of Skäte’ contest in the areaway between the staircases of the ‘Penkenbahn’ in Mayrhofen was the perfect location to get a real arena feeling. The street dogs from Villach with Christian Lev, Andreas Fugger, Dominik Tiller, Thomas Steinwender and Christoph Fohn showed ‚flat tricks’ like the streets of Mayrhofen never experienced before. Dominik Tiller sticked all his tricks and truly deserved the victory.
