One of the best grass roots events in Germany, with lots of eager spectators and participants, infact with nearly 150 riders, this is one of the biggest events around.

5 Stars Agentur asked us to host the event once again, so we headed over there for an amazing day, with some fantastic german sausage in the mix aswell....

 Blue sky, bright sunshine, thrilled spectators and a perfectly shaped Alpspitzpark. Excellent conditions for the snowboarders who came to Nesselwang on Jan 23th to participate The 5ive Barbecue.

And it was definitely worth it. The riders from six countries could let their creativity run riot in the diversified setup of the O´Neill Alpspitzpark. In the upper part of the snowpark different boxes and rails could be shredded, a kicker with two take-offs crowned every run.

Tasty barbecue and hot drinks helped to create the brilliant and relaxed atmosphere on site. During the day around 2000 spectators could enjoy top-class Snowpark Action. The riders really whooped it up in the Alpspitzpark. Because after all there were not only Quiksilver prizes to be won but also points in the overall ranking and important TTR points. Already the youngsters boasted and the judges and spectators came to see a very good niveau. Christian Geiger (AUT) won the kids contest and also the girls showed their power – Sandra Ryser (CH) was the winner of the girl snowboarders.

In the dusk the men showed what they are made of: After an exciting qualification on a very high level the riders stepped it up one more notch in the final. They showed tricks and jumps which were in a class of their own and Christoph Weberhofer (AUT) came out the winner of this hard battle.

At the following Red Bull Trick Session a Doublekinked Rail challenged all motivated riders. it was again Christoph Weberhofer who completely thrilled the spectators with his Gap 270 to Frontside Boardslide, so he also won this contest taking home a Red Bull IPod.

After the contest and the prize giving ceremony on site the people went down to the Alpspitzhalle in Nesselwang, where Bigeazie presented his new EP to the 500 motivated guests of the party. Afterwards the Drunken Masters took the stage in the tried and tested way. Till the morning hours the crowd enjoyed more than one drink, danced to the sounds of the DJ Team and celebrated in great profusion.

All in all The 5ive Barbecue was a great success and without any doubt a felicitous kick-off for the Quiksilver Wir Schanzen 2010. Now all eyes are directed to the next tourstop. After a successful parkopening on Jan 17th 2010 the Snowpark Heubach is ready for the Freeski and Snowboard alarm.

In cooperation with the skate- and snowboardshop “Orange Jungle” and the snowboard scene of Thüringen the Wir Schanzen community will be welcomed with open arms to “Jungle Fever” on Feb 20th 2010. Freeski and snowboard action, relaxed contest atmosphere at cool beats and hot steaks and a breathtaking party presented by Orange Jungle promise an unforgettable weekend.
